Compounded Tirzepatide is a medication used primarily for the treatment of type 2 diabetes and obesity. It functions by mimicking the effects of hormones that are important for regulating blood sugar and appetite. Compounded Tirzepatide is administered via injection and belongs to a class of drugs known as incretin mimetics, targeting both the GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) and GIP (glucose- dependent insulinotropic polypeptide) receptors.
Common side effects of Compounded Tirzepatide include gastrointestinal
symptoms such as nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, and constipation. Other potential side effects are decreased appetite, abdominal pain, and reactions at the injection site. More serious risks may include thyroid tumors, pancreatitis, kidney problems, and severe gastrointestinal issues. It’s important for users to monitor for symptoms of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) and seek medical advice for any severe or persistent side effects.

In a typical year, Compounded Tirzepatide users can experience a weight loss of 15-20%*
Select your current weight: 270 lbs
Weight you could lose (lbs): 58 lbs
*In clinical trials lasting 68 and 72 weeks that investigated the effects of Wegovy (2.4 mg) and Zepbound (15 mg) on patients without diabetes who either had a BMI ≥30, or a BMI ≥27 with an accompanying weight-related condition, participants experienced an average weight loss of 15% and 20% respectively, when these medications were combined with modifications in diet and exercise. This is in contrast to the 2.4% and 3.1% weight loss respectively achieved with just diet and exercise modifications alone.

Like other GLP-1 medications, Compounded Tirzepatide comes with the risk of potential side effects. Most people experience these side effects when their dose is increased, and they tend to improve once a steady dose is reached. Some of the most common side effects include:
Additionally, if you take oral birth control pills, talk to your healthcare provider before you use Compounded Tirzepatide. Birth control pills may not work as well while using Compounded Tirzepatide. Your healthcare provider may recommend another type of birth control for 4 weeks after you start Compounded Tirzepatide and for 4 weeks after each increase in your dose of Compounded Tirzepatide.
More severe side effects are rarer but possible. Serious side effects include:
Thyroid cancer: Compounded Tirzepatide may cause tumors in the thyroid, including thyroid cancer. Watch for possible symptoms, such as a lump or swelling in the neck, hoarseness, trouble swallowing, or shortness of breath. If you have any of these symptoms, tell your healthcare provider. Do not use Compounded Tirzepatide if you or any of your family have ever had a type of thyroid cancer called medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) or if you have Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2).
These are not all of the possible side effects of Compounded Tirzepatide. For more complete information about Compounded Tirzepatide, including Boxed warning, see full Important Safety Information.
Tirzepatide is stored in the refrigerator at a temperature between 2°C to 8°C (36°F to 46°F).
Direct Preventive Care is actively helping patients navigate GLP-1 medication shortages by implementing two key strategies:
Providing Alternative Options:
DPC is effectively aiding patients by identifying and offering alternative GLP-1 medications that are currently available. This approach ensures patients have access to necessary treatments, even when their usual medication is in short supply.
Optimizing Inventory Management:
By working closely with pharmacies and healthcare providers, DPC is ensuring that inventory levels are well-managed and distributed efficiently. This collaborative effort helps maintain a steady supply of medications, minimizing the impact of shortages on patient care.
